At the Klawitters' house, there is a sense of departure in the air. Conni is excited. Her parents are taking her brother to Uncle Albert's. Conni would love to go along, but then she would miss Semi's birthday party. Of course, Conni and her cat Mau are not left home alone, as Grandpa Willi has come over, and Anna and Simon are even allowed to spend the night with her. But then an injured crane lands at their place and needs their help. Not only is Crane Klaus struggling with his injury, but also the uptight neighbor Mr. Oswald, who sees his perfectly maintained rose garden in danger, is after Klaus. Luckily, Conni and her friends receive support from animal rights activist Renata and police officer Selena. However, to the great displeasure of cat Mau and Anna, everything now revolves around the funny bird.
