Music in the Alps

The New York concert pianist and music professor Dr. Irena Portenko invites you for the 13th time as artistic director to the "Music in the Alps" festival in Bad Gastein. What began on a small scale has developed into a versatile musical event that promotes intercultural dialogue and sets new impulses for the performance of classical music. Under this year's motto "Love Always Wins," the festival dedicates itself to a force that, like music, is inexplicable—it simply happens. It flows through us, touches us, and changes us profoundly. On stage, established artists meet young talents—together they create special musical moments where love becomes tangible and can unfold deeply within us. In moderated Q&A sessions before the concerts, artists provide personal insights into their work, inspirations, and career paths. Music in the Alps offers a diverse program in August 2026, featuring unique venues and musical encounters that will be memorable.
