Advent singing

The Advent carol service in Niederschöckl church brings the quieter side of the pre-Christmas period to life. The basoARTe choir mixes clear voices with familiar melodies, accompanied by the Mayrold family band playing fine folk music. Together they create an evening that is unhurried and leaves room for warmth, peace and listening together. Weinitzen is located just outside Graz, in the province of Styria, and it is here that the programme has a particularly down-to-earth feel. The date is 7 December 2025 at 8 pm. Familiar Advent songs meet new movements and short, appropriate texts that draw an arc of hope, light and thanksgiving. The church offers natural acoustics with stone, wood and candlelight; every note can unfold, every word remains understandable. There is time to breathe between the contributions: a glance at the altar, a nod to a neighbour, a quiet hum along to a verse. The audience does not expect a show effect, but honest music-making. This is exactly what makes the magic and connects generations. This concert is also an invitation to experience the Graz region in a quiet hour and to continue talking after the end: about memories of earlier evenings, about the first candle on the wreath, about what really counts at this time of year.
