Sunday Tours at the Abbey Museum
Every second Sunday during the summer months, thematic tours focusing on the history of the abbey and Mattsee are offered.

The tour begins at the Abbey Square under the linden tree, at the Abbey Fountain and the Tassilo Monument. Here, you will learn more about the history of the abbey, as well as about Mattsee, Bavaria, Passau, and Austria. After this introduction, we will proceed to the Abbey Church and visit the baroque church space, which still clearly shows its originally Romanesque architecture and Gothic elements. Through the cloister (the chapter crypt can also be visited), we will reach the museum entrance, an impressive wide ceremonial staircase in early classicist style. The solid oak carved railing features urns as decorative elements.

The museum tour takes you through the twelve rooms, some of which are originally furnished, of the former summer and winter residence of the Mattsee abbots.
