Christmas Oratorio

The St. Wolfgang Tourism Association and Market Association present a new edition of the St. Wolfgang Christmas Oratorio for choir and orchestra by Simon Zimmermann, following a very successful premiere in December 2022. The Christmas story is told in the form of an oratorio, where recitatives, or spoken singing parts, alternate with vocal pieces and instrumental passages. Stylistically, the work is diverse. It includes elements from the classical-romantic music tradition, as well as groovy sections from the sound world of pop and jazz. The soloist will be tenor August Schramm. The mixed choir and the St. Wolfgang Music Association will showcase their versatility in a captivating composition that pays homage to the Christmas story with both energy and depth in just under an hour.
