Read & listen: Stories of Franz - Vestibule in the Burgtheater

Franz Fröstl is six years old and lives in Vienna. Starting school is not exactly easy: his best friend Gabi Gruber is not in the same class as him and, to add to his dissatisfaction, Franz has to realise that learning to read takes quite a long time. As if that wasn't enough, his class teacher is also a weird zigzag type who only speaks in a ticked-off and unfriendly manner and orders the pupils around as if they were soldiers. Franz thinks Zigzag could be a bit more polite, but it's not so easy to explain this to Zigzag because as soon as he gets upset, his voice gets all squeaky. That's a problem because Franz can't explain to Zickzack how the numbers disappear from the maths book, or to Gabi that she is - of course - wrong when the two of them argue again.
