The Mole and the Stars

Every night, the mole comes out of his underground burrow, sits on his favorite stone, and looks up at the starry sky. When he sees a shooting star, he makes a wish: "I wish I could own all the stars in the world," he whispers. Suddenly, ladders appear in the sky, leading up to the bright stars. The little mole doesn't think long: he collects one star after another and brings them into his burrow until everything is brightly lit! He enjoys this very much, but when he wants to return to his favorite stone, everything outside is completely dark, not a bit of light left in the sky. The other animals in the forest and on the meadow also miss the stars and are very sad, and the mole understands: the stars do not belong to him alone; they shine for all of us.
