On April 25 (Day of the Orchard Meadow) and June 28 (Open House – Nature in the Garden), the Nature and Culinary Show Garden in Styria will open its doors for two special days. In this nature-oriented facility, a spacious pond area with water insects, plankton, noble crayfish, and fish combines with an orchard meadow featuring around 90 old varieties of fruit and berries. Additionally, healing and culinary herbs are present – ideal for discovering, tasting, and learning.
The event is aimed at garden and nature enthusiasts as well as families who want to explore the Graz region and the diverse cultural landscape of Styria. Free admission makes the outing particularly uncomplicated. Guided tours are available, even outside of these two days, for groups of 5 to a maximum of 20 people upon registration.
The old orchard reflects a well-established Styrian tradition: tall fruit trees are arranged in a loose structure, providing space for biodiversity and creating a tranquil atmosphere. The pond and water area invite close observation: small aquatic inhabitants like plankton and noble crayfish are native here – a reflection of the lively interplay between garden, nature, and water.
The facility is entirely focused on sustainable design and nature-oriented gardening concepts, themes actively promoted by the initiative "Nature in the Garden" in the region. The two opening days offer an opportunity for tasting: visitors can enjoy and be inspired by how an orchard meadow functions in practice, utilizing the old fruit and berry collections. Furthermore, in June, the early summer development in the pond area can be observed; perhaps young animals will appear, or the first signs of plant growth – an additional experience for nature lovers.
A visit to this garden facility means discovering nature at every step, setting your own pace, and remaining open to the unexpected. It is not a commercial event, but a place for encounters with garden, water, fruit, and nature – right in the heart of Styria, in the Graz experience region. Individual guided tours for groups can be arranged upon registration, making this offering suitable for school classes, clubs, or groups of friends.
