Christmas Market at the Main Square

Visitors coming from Schmidttorgasse or Nibelungenbrücke are greeted by a unique sight. Nestled among the centuries-old baroque townhouses, a true Advent jewel rises before our eyes. It sparkles and glimmers from every corner, with beautifully designed stalls surrounding the imposing Christmas tree, inviting guests to linger. The arrangement of the market stalls allows visitors to approach each stand without crowding and pushing. The Christkindlmarkt at Linz's main square has always been regarded as the market of artists and artisans. Three painters are among the founding members and are still represented here today. Shoppers can find a wide array of handmade Christmas ornaments, pottery and glassware, costume jewelry, crafted in traditional filigree style, as well as Italian glassblowing art. Of course, visitors can quench their hunger and thirst with delicious hot beverages, bratwursts, and farmer's doughnuts.
