Ötscher Trail

The Ötscher Trails through the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park have been an integral part of the Austrian mountain marathon scene since 2004. Together with the then Mountain Run (Skyrace starting in 2024), the Marathon Trail formed the Ötscher Ultramarathon.

Since 2024, the Ötscher Trail has been organized by B-TRAIL.Events.

The Vertical Race to the summit of Ötscher is just one of the additional course offerings that define the newly organized event.

The fundamental idea of the traditional Ultramarathon classification is maintained and expanded with the "HERO" classification (Vertical + Marathon Trail + Skyrace) and the "KING/QUEEN" classification (Vertical + Speed Trail + Skyrace).

The courses run through the Ötschergräben (the Grand Canyon of Austria) with the Marathon Trail and involve some easy rock climbing at the Skyrace over the Rauer Kamm and the Ötscher summit.

In the Speed Trail, the summit victory takes place at the Kleiner Ötscher. The Easy Trail leads through beautiful single trails to the finish in Lackenhof.

The Ötscher Skyrace will be part of the Skyrunner Austria Series in 2026, with a SAS prize money of €2000.

The Ötscher Vertical Race is not only part of the Vertical Austria Series but also part of the International Vertical Open Series in Vertical for 2026. Additionally, we are pleased to contribute to the Austrian Trailrunning Cup and the Volkslaufcup with the Ötscher Trail in 2025.
