Travel Information: How to get to the restaurant "Das Geyerhammer" in Scharnstein in the Almtal

We recommend traveling by public transport!

By train: From Wels train station take the Almtalbahn (line 153) towards Grünau im Almtal to the Scharnstein-Mühldorf stop; there are numerous connections from Wels train station to the main traffic trains on the Westbahn line (line 101). It’s about a 5-7 minute walk from the train station over the Hofmüllersteg to the restaurant. Departure from Linz Hbf at 4:22 PM / 5:30 PM (Tue - Fri), from Wels Hbf at 4:50 PM / 5:50 PM (Tue - Fri), arrival at Scharnstein-Mühldorf at 5:45 PM / 6:45 PM. For travel from Wels, we recommend the OÖ. Freizeitticket for €19.90 (for 2 people, round trip). Return: Since the last return trip with the Almtalbahn leaves at 8:16 PM towards Wels, we recommend traveling from Wels at 4:50 PM to have enough time for dinner. If you wish to arrive later, we recommend taking the train at 9:45 PM to Grünau im Almtal and staying overnight at the Romantikhotel Almtalhof (near the train station). By bus: OÖVV bus line 533 Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal; stop at Scharnstein town center, about a 15-17 minute walk to the restaurant. The same offer applies for the return trip as for the train journey!

Traveling with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 52 from Laakirchen to the Scharnstein-Mühldorf train stop or from Vorchdorf with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 70 to the Almbrücke stop. Please call the taxi center at 050-422 422 at least 1 hour in advance or order via the otaxi app. Return travel is possible until 8 PM; afterwards, you can use one of the local taxi providers or take advantage of the overnight stay options in the region, as mentioned above.

Westautobahn A1: Munich - Salzburg - Regau - Gmunden - Scharnstein - Almbrücke junction - parking lot at the restaurant or parking lot 1 for Ruine Scharnstein 100 meters away.
