Tour of Austria - Stage 3 through Wagrain

Pongau once again part of the Tour of Austria

The Pongau region will once again play an important role in the 75th edition of the Tour of Austria. This was officially announced by the organizers last Monday in Graz. The destination of the 3rd stage is once again St. Johann/Alpendorf.

The third of a total of five stages will start on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the main square in Lienz. After a long ascent towards the Felbertauern Tunnel, the route leads through the Pinzgau into the Pongau: over Schwarzach, through Bahnhofstraße in St. Johann, continuing to Bischofshofen and over Buchberg into Fritztal. The route then continues through Eben, Altenmarkt, and Wagrain, before heading back through the Bahnhofstraße in St. Johann towards the finish. From there, it is just a short but decisive stretch to the finish line in St. Johann Alpendorf.

The district town of Pongau has long been a fixed point of the Tour and will host the event for the 16th time.

The spectacular finish is particularly well-known: "The Flèche Wallonne (Belgian professional one-day race) has the Wall of Huy – the Tour of Austria has the ramp in Alpendorf. Here, perfect energy management and the right timing are crucial – just like with Ulissi or del Toro in recent years." The organizing committee, led by OK chief Ing. Wolfgang Hettegger (Board of Snow Space Salzburg), is looking forward to the event: They expect an exciting finish, a safe race, and numerous enthusiastic cycling fans along the route.
