Procession with Pucher Palm Donkey: Palm Sunday Service with Palm Blessing

In the municipality of Puch near Hallein, there is the last wooden Palm Donkey in the Salzburg region. Every year on Palm Sunday, four young men from the local traditional costume association D'Puachstoana carry the Pucher Palm Donkey with the figure of Christ during the procession through the village. The figure of Christ is 77 cm tall, the donkey is 88 cm tall and 138 cm long.

With a bridle made of cowrie shells and a continuously renewed cloak for the figure of Christ, it has now found shelter in the bell tower of the parish church of Puch, where the donkey can be admired throughout the year at the church entrance, until it makes its grand appearance again on Palm Sunday.
