"Lazgi. A Dance of the Soul and Love." - The masterpiece of the National Ballet of Uzbekistan celebrates international success. "Lazgi. Dance of the Soul and Love" - a breathtaking dance production by the renowned German choreographer Raul Raimondo Rebeck - has caused a sensation worldwide. The spectacular performance, presented by the company of the National Ballet of Uzbekistan, is dedicated to the ancient folk dance Lazgi, which was recognized by UNESCO in 2010 as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The production takes the audience on a journey into the past, to the time of the caravans that traversed Central Asia along the Great Silk Road. Amidst the hot desert landscapes and under the influence of shamanic melodies, an immortal love emerges - and the soul begins its endless dance. The story reflects the cultural richness and the transmission of centuries-old traditions, with the connection between generations becoming palpable in every performance.

The artistic direction of "Lazgi" brings together some of the leading names in the international art scene. The musical concept comes from composer Davidson Giaconello, while the staging features impressive sets and lighting effects by Yoko Seyama, a renowned Japanese multimedia artist. The choreography by Raul Raimondo Rebeck, a celebrated German choreographer and former soloist at the Berlin State Opera, masterfully combines classical ballet techniques with the traditional movements of the Lazgi dance. Rebeck has collaborated with ballet legends such as Maurice Béjart and Rudolf Nureyev and is known for his distinctive ability to blend tradition and modernity.

The Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan supports the project as part of its mission to globally connect the cultural landscape of Uzbekistan. Founded in 2017 by a decree from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the foundation is committed to promoting art and culture in Uzbekistan and beyond, aiming to bring the country's cultural heritage into the international dialogue.
