THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
The original production by Sasson/Sautter
with Deborah Sasson and Uwe Kröger
Music: Deborah Sasson / Lyrics: Jochen Sautter / Music Director and Arrangements: Ryan Martin
The grand touring production returns with a star-studded cast and a completely new musical adaptation. A true musical highlight!
After the overwhelming success of the 2022/23 tour, international star Deborah Sasson has once again been secured to take on the role of Christine. The interplay between the singer and Germany's number one musical star, Uwe Kröger, who continues to play the role of the Phantom, has been celebrated by audiences and critics alike.
Since 2010, "The Phantom of the Opera" by the author team Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has captivated audiences on stages across Europe. The forced break due to the Corona pandemic was creatively used to completely rework the production musically. British success musician Ryan Martin, who has composed and arranged music for Cirque du Soleil, America’s Got Talent, Netflix, BBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox USA, was brought on board for this purpose.
The spectacular stage design is enhanced by the striking three-dimensional video projections of internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki, as well as the grand stage elements built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
This new production, which was created for the 100th anniversary of the novel "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra" written by Gaston Leroux in 1910, is one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. The production distinguishes itself from all previous musical interpretations of the literary material by adhering more closely to the original novel and incorporating well-known operatic quotes into parts of the music composed by Sasson.
The role of Christine is interpreted by the world-renowned Boston soprano and Echo Klassik award winner Deborah Sasson. Her multifaceted and powerful voice is perfect for this blend of opera and musical. The Phantom is played by Uwe Kröger, who captured the hearts of audiences since his breakthrough in the role of Death in the world premiere of "Elisabeth." He has played leading roles in the world premieres of "Rebecca," "Mozart," "The Visit of the Old Lady," "Heidi," and in the German-language premieres of "Sunset Boulevard," "Miss Saigon," "Doctor Dolittle," "The Addams Family," and "Napoleon" in London's West End. He now takes on the role of the feared and internally torn Phantom in this production.
Additionally, a large ensemble of selected singers, dancers, and actors from the German-speaking region will be involved.
