Growing happens quite quickly, thinks Winfried Luftig. Mr. Luftig would love to see the world from a bird's-eye view! Even as a child, Winfried climbed to the highest treetops to find bird nests. How he would love to hatch a bird friend someday, but his wish has never come true.

Mr. Luftig and his friend Murzel are enjoying the first mild sunny hours of the still young spring, delighting in the beautiful garden and philosophizing about the art of waiting and growing. In spring, everything is sunshine, joy, and pancakes. The bird specialist organizes his seven belongings, from the smallest to the largest egg! But many pots are not only waiting for care and maintenance! Luftig finds a delicate, tiny, and fragile egg. Will Luftig's wish come true this spring? Will his bird friend be born?
