On June 20, 2026, one of the most impressive and atmospheric festivals of the summer awaits you in the idyllic region of Wachau: the Wachau Summer Solstice. When thousands of torches illuminate the Spitz wine terraces and the banks of the Danube, the landscape transforms into a magical sea of lights – a spectacle you shouldn't miss!

Tradition and Custom
The summer solstice is deeply rooted in the history of Wachau and is celebrated with great dedication. Over 3,000 torches are lit in the Spitz wine terraces and along the Danube, bathing the valley in a warm, festive glow. Particularly striking are the majestic wooden bonfires on the 1000-Eimerberg and along the Danube banks on both sides of the river, shining brightly into the night.

A Community Effort Full of Commitment
This impressive event is the result of tremendous effort from the local community. Over 500 volunteers are wholeheartedly involved to make this special night possible. Their commitment ensures a smooth operation and makes the festival what it is: an unforgettable night full of tradition and community spirit.

Start of the lighting of torches & fireworks: 9:45 PM
Duration: until approximately 10:30 PM
Ferry operates until: 11:30 PM (from 7:15 PM only for passenger traffic)
