High Alpine Stubachtal - Snowshoe Hiking with a National Park Ranger

The snowshoe hike starts at the ticket office of the Weißsee Glacier World. From there, the hike initially follows the road until reaching the intersection with a forest path. This is where the real winter adventure begins. Along the forest and then the woodland path, with a bit of luck, animal tracks can be spotted. After about 3 km, the forest becomes more open, and the destination is within reach. Upon arriving at a mountain hut, the high alpine parts of the Stubach Valley can be admired. You are now in a world that reveals the mystical magic of winter! The return journey is via the same route.

Details Equipment: Sturdy, ankle-high footwear (ideally hiking boots); warm socks, ski poles, warm clothing (including hat and gloves), sun protection, alpine backpack (20-30L) with warm drinks and snacks. Rental equipment: Snowshoe rental, ski pole rental (please indicate when booking).

Suitable for children from 10 years old. Difficulty: Route information: approx. 6 km / 250 m elevation gain / 2.5 hours pure walking time / approx. 4.5 hours total duration of the tour. Moderate snowshoe hike that requires more stamina or leads through steeper terrain. Requirements: Good physical condition and a certain level of basic fitness are essential for this guided tour. The national park administration reserves the right to adapt the tour to the participants' abilities and to conduct it only if the weather conditions are suitable, the participants are properly equipped, and physically fit.

Meeting point: Every Tuesday (from December 30, 2025, to March 31, 2026) at 10:00 AM at the valley station of the Weißsee (N/S 47.16971; W/O 12.62468). Price information: Cost: Adults €22. Travel information: By car: At the roundabout in Uttendorf, take the direction of Stubach Valley – Enzingerboden – Weißsee and follow the road for 16 km to the valley station of the Weißsee cable car.
