"LiebfrauenDom" translates to "Cathedral of Our Lady" in English. It typically refers to the Mainz Cathedral in Germany, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The Cathedral of Our Lady is one of the most distinctive landmarks of Wiener Neustadt – and an impressive testament to the city's history. The two pointed towers of the cathedral are visible far beyond the surrounding area and served as waymarkers even in the Middle Ages.

Constructed starting around 1200, shortly after the city's founding, the cathedral shows Romanesque origins but has undergone numerous architectural changes over the centuries: In the 14th century, a Gothic choir replaced the Romanesque apse, and during the Baroque period, the interior was completely redesigned. In the late 19th and 20th centuries, primarily renovation work was carried out – since then, its appearance has hardly changed.

Numerous significant personalities have left their mark in the cathedral, whether as builders and patrons of altars and artworks or through their memorials. A visit is worthwhile!
