Summer concert of the Burgenland Military Music.

Motto of this concert:
“Promise of Peace – Music in the Sign of Peace”
The entire concert repertoire includes works and musical pieces dedicated thematically to peace.
Among others, the “Waltz of Peace Sounds” can be heard, which the composer Edmund Eysler dedicated “in awe and reverence to the brilliant champion of the idea of peace, Baroness Bertha von Suttner.”
Following is “The Story of Anne Frank,” a tone painting about the Jewish German girl Anne Frank, who fell victim to the National Socialist genocide at the age of 15. She had to die because she belonged to a different race and did not fit into the system. This year marks the 80th anniversary of her death.
Also featured is “The Secret of the White Rose – in memoriam Sophie Scholl,” a work about the student group “The White Rose,” which bravely resisted the Nazi regime between 1942 and 1943 – with words against a brutal and inhumane system.
The composition “Et in Terra Pax” is a poignant plea for peace. It utilizes the full range of sonic expression and emotional nuances – both musically and linguistically.
Another piece in the program is “Hymn to the Fallen” (from the film “Saving Private Ryan”) by John Williams, who dedicated his work to fallen war heroes.
The concert program is rounded off with several vocal numbers such as “Gabriella's Song” or “Lena’s Song” from the film “As It Is in Heaven,” as well as other works that stand in the name of peace.
