The 79-year-old Maria upholds the Spanish way of life, which is slowly fading away. She lives, cherished by all, in the Spanish quarter, in an apartment full of memories and antique treasures. When her daughter, who lives in Madrid, wants to sell the apartment, her unique world is thrown into turmoil. Instead of moving to a retirement home, Maria stands her ground. With wit, cunning, and heart, she fights for her home and, in doing so, also fights for a vanishing world. Surprisingly, she finds new closeness, zest for life, and a love she thought she had long lost. She is supported by her Muslim neighbors.
