The word "triage" has not been part of our active vocabulary for very long. However, we have come to know it as a description of the complex issue of medical prioritization under conditions of scarce resources in a disaster situation. Prof. Blankenburg, the head of an intensive care unit, faces the difficult task of coordinating the distribution of vital resources, particularly ventilators. Her professional decisions are affected by personal crises. In particular, her husband's battle with Parkinson's disease demands all her attention and emotional strength—intensifying her situation even further. Dr. Bozic, on the other hand, struggles with the principles of medical ethics while also being preoccupied with his wife's longed-for pregnancy and his affair with his colleague, Dr. Majewski. They all experience intense conflicts and moral dilemmas that medical staff face in extreme situations: Against the backdrop of a far-reaching fire disaster and the resulting overload of the clinic, a highly charged atmosphere is created that forces doctors to make quick, often barely bearable decisions about life and death. "Triage" powerfully illuminates the harsh reality of those confronted with the darker sides of their calling, where every pro or con has the potential to both save and destroy. Maya Arad Yasur, born in 1976 in Israel, studied dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a production dramaturg in the Netherlands and Israel, among other places. Her plays have received various awards, including first prize at the playwright competition of the ITI (International Theatre Institute) and UNESCO, the Stückemarkt Prize of the Berlin Theatertreffen, and in 2019, recognition from the German-speaking and French committee of EURODRAM. Ebru Tartıcı Borchers was born in Hatay, Turkey. After studying acting in Ankara and working in Turkey, she has also been active in Germany since 2015. She completed her directing studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in 2022. As a director, she has worked at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Osnabrück, Staatstheater Mainz, and Stadttheater Gießen, among others. Since the 2024/2025 season, she has been the resident director at the Oldenburg State Theatre.
