Cupid & Psyche?

Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is known worldwide for his reinterpretations of classical themes for large dance ensembles. With TANZ LINZ, he presents his personal exploration of the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche.

Psyche's search for self-love as a prerequisite for love for another person takes centre stage. In the impressive finale, the question mark in the title, which arouses curiosity, is resolved. For the eternal question of why this wild maelstrom of emotions has to be lived through again and again finds its goal in finding true love and being able to experience a fulfilling partnership full of pleasure, joy and lust.

In his creation, Verbruggen combines finely nuanced choreography with humour and a love of detail. The accompaniment by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz opens up an attractive musical framework of associations with compositions ranging from Charles Ives and Gabriel Fauré to a Greek pop song by Alkistis Protopsalti.
