In 1986, Tina Turner's album "Break Every Rule" was released by Capitol Records and quickly became a number-one success. The album sold over twelve million copies worldwide and, with a total of 14x Platinum, 7x Gold, and 1x Silver, is one of the best-selling albums of the 1980s. Her legendary performance during the subsequent tour in Rio de Janeiro, in front of more than 180,000 spectators, even earned her a place in the Guinness Book of Records. Forty years later, "Simply The Best – The Tina Turner Story" pays tribute to the unique life’s work of one of the most significant artists in music history. Recently, the successful production made headlines due to a long legal dispute over the likeness of the lead actress and the world's best Tina impersonator, Dorothea "Coco" Fletcher, gaining international prominence and recognition through a final court ruling. The show has already thrilled hundreds of thousands of visitors and will embark on a major tour through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland again in 2026. Passau, July 25, 2025. A highlight among musical biographies and a must-see for all Tina Turner fans who want to experience the extraordinary life of the exceptional artist along with all her greatest hits up close and live: "Simply The Best – The Tina Turner Story" depicts the life of the extraordinary artist with plenty of live music and impressive scenes, taking the audience on a journey through five decades of music history: from early successes, the failure of a great love, and finally, after the separation, Tina's sensational solo career to the film music of "James Bond 007 – Goldeneye" in the mid-90s.
From difficult circumstances to a soaring solo career
Anna Mae Bullock, born on November 26, 1939, in Brownsville, Tennessee (USA), raised in Nutbush, and passed away on May 24, 2023, in her adopted home of Küsnacht near Zurich (Switzerland), became a global star and legend as Tina Turner. From 1958, she performed alongside her later husband Ike Turner. After their separation and the personal abyss, her first solo tour for the album "Private Dancer" in 1985 marked an outstanding comeback as a solo artist. In 2009, the singer with the distinctive timbre went on a world tour for the last time. This tour was a grand conclusion to an extraordinary career with over 180 million records sold, countless number-one hits, and chart placements such as "Simply The Best," "Private Dancer," or "We Don’t Need Another Hero." Even after her death, Tina Turner remains an unbeatable role model for strength and courage.
The successful production "Simply The Best" is a tribute to the rock icon who shaped half a century of rock history and brings the unique Tina Turner sound back to the stage live. The captivating and emotional musical biography was awarded "Best Musical Tribute Show" at the Reel Awards in early 2020 in Las Vegas and pays homage to an outstanding and unique personality.
The world's best Tina impersonator: Dorothea "Coco" Fletcher as Tina Turner
"Tina Turner's performances were significantly different from those of other artists. I have always been fascinated by her incredible energy and stage presence," says Tina Turner performer Coco Fletcher. Inspired by the exceptional artist, she manages to perfectly imitate her idol. Coco's performance is visually and vocally astonishingly close to the original. Thus, she is rightly considered the best Tina impersonator in the world. There can hardly be a greater compliment than that the rock icon herself believed, in the context of a past legal dispute, that Coco resembled her too closely. With her special timbre and energetic show, Coco Fletcher brings the "Queen of Rock" back to the stage and delights the audience together with the excellent ensemble of live band, singers, and dancers.
Coco Fletcher, who grew up in Alabama/USA, celebrated her first successes in Las Vegas: there, she performed with soul greats like The Platters and Bobby Womack and successfully sang in shows like "American Superstars." Since September 1997, she has been part of the main cast of the ensemble of "Stars in Concert." Since 2004, she regularly shared the stage with Udo Jürgens, and in 2005, she sang a duet during a joint performance with Jermaine Jackson (Jackson Five). Coco Fletcher became known in Germany and Switzerland after Pepe Lienhard hired her for his live tours and TV appearances. She also gave goosebumps performances on "Let’s Dance" 1 & 2 (RTL) and sang for Quincy Jones at the "42nd Montreux Jazz Festival" in 2008.
Bernhard Kurz, the man with a knack for successful productions
With "Simply The Best," successful producer Bernhard Kurz and tour organizer Oliver Forster have created a monument for the Queen of Rock. For his successful works, Kurz was awarded the "Artist Choice Award" as "Best Producer" in Las Vegas, among others. The impresario of the Berlin-based show series "Stars in Concert" is simultaneously celebrating successes across Europe with musical biographies about the life and work of Elvis Presley ("ELVIS - The Musical") or the Beatles ("all you need is love!"). Kurz has been a true figure in the show business for decades and has become a recognized expert in the field of impersonator shows throughout his career.
Producer and organizer Oliver Forster has also filled concert halls in the German-speaking world in recent years with COFO Entertainment's original productions featuring global stars like Falco, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Jackson.
