Sled Dog Racing 2026

On January 17 and 18, 2026, Werfenweng will once again host the 27th International Sled Dog Race, a special event. The sled dog race in Werfenweng is considered one of the most successful races in the sled dog sport and has been organized for many years in collaboration with the SSB (Sled Dog Sport Bavaria e.V.). Around one hundred teams are expected at the sled dog race, with more than five hundred dogs participating. Among them are several reigning world and European champions, ensuring exciting races. From skijoring with one dog to the so-called open class, where eight or more dogs are harnessed in front of the sled, everything is included. For dog lovers, visiting the sled dog camp, known as "Stake Out," is the perfect opportunity to watch the mushers and their dogs up close, away from the race trails. There will also be plenty of food and drink available. Spectators and participants can refuel with food and beverages in the start and finish area or warm up with a mulled wine.
