In 1997, a tenor was sought to sing the theme song of the TV show Herzblatt. However, instead of a single singer, three candidates impressed so much that a completely new formation was spontaneously created: DIE JUNGEN TENÖRE were born. What started as a surprise developed into an impressive success story. For 28 years now, Die Jungen Tenöre have been touching and inspiring people with their music – an achievement that no one would have expected. Perhaps one would even have removed the word "young" from their name. "But we are and will remain young at heart," says Ilja Martin, the charming curly-haired one and by now the "senior" among the Young Tenors. Together with Carlos Sanchez and Matthias Eger, he forms not only a harmonious trio on stage but also shares a close friendship offstage.
