A new sound for a Baroque hit: The trio Cobario presents its own creative and highly virtuosic version of Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" on stage. In this new arrangement for violin and two guitars, the internationally successful ensemble led by the exceptional violinist Herwig Schaffner gives the four world-famous violin concertos a fresh and contemporary sound.
Scorching heat, biting cold, whispering winds, and roaring storms: Nature's phenomena have never been translated into sound more beautifully, sensually, and vividly than in Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons." The Venetian composer grouped four violin concertos together under the common title in 1725: each one a pinnacle of Baroque mastery, and together they form the most famous sonic depiction of nature of all time.
One violin (Herwig Schaffner) and two guitars (Peter Weiss and Georg Aichberger) are all Cobario needs to shape Vivaldi's art into a magnificent sonic event that truly brings the Baroque sound to life. Tones and rhythms are sharpened, unheard details are teased out - and Vivaldi's exuberant temperament gets a modern drive. Cobario has arranged the complete cycle of the "Four Seasons" in its own version, lavishly filled with rich sound: With 16 strings, this daring and bold trio effortlessly rivals an entire symphony orchestra, turning Vivaldi into a groovy event.
