Jahngasse 9, 6850 Dornbirn

Ecology and agriculture are the defining themes within the oeuvre of Anna Hulačová (*1984). The Czech artist explores a dualism of utopia and dystopia, reflecting the conflict between pessimism and optimism regarding the current and future state of the world. Hulačová's drawings and sculptures—technical working machines, plants, animals, and humans—made of concrete, ceramics, and wood, capture the tension-filled intermediate state: they are hybrid beings and machines, whose physicality and function are transformed, interconnected, and merge into one another. For the exhibition at Kunstraum Dornbirn, Hulačová creates new works and combines them with existing pieces to form a narrative specifically designed for the space.
