This program for violin and piano spans a wide range from Mozart's profound Violin Sonata in E minor to Brahms' fiery Hungarian Dances. The rarely performed F.A.E. Sonata, a collaborative work by Schumann, Dietrich, and Brahms, combines youthful passion with romantic intensity. After the intermission, Eugène Ysaÿe unfolds a moving sound language full of pain and longing in his Poème Élégiaque, while Glazunov's miniatures from the ballet music Raymonda present graceful elegance and melodic beauty. The grand finale is provided by Johannes Brahms with his dances – music full of vitality that transforms the program into an exhilarating energy. Franziska Pietsch, one of the most renowned violinists in Germany, is accompanied by the magnificent Japanese pianist Maki Hayashida.
