ELEVATION PROJECT

The current program of the Elevation Project juxtaposes the compositions of the Swedish exceptional pianist Esbjörn Svensson and the American jazz guitar legend Pat Metheny. The result is a contrasting dialogue that not only leaves sonic spaces open due to the reduced trio formation.

The cryptic connection between the two musicians makes the composition particularly appealing. Two musicians who captivated audiences in the past with very catchy melodies and created a distinctive "ensemble sound" with their groups. The influence of classical music and pop/rock is stylistically significant for both. Esbjörn Svensson's trio often referenced influences from Pat Metheny, but there were hardly any direct points of contact. In 2003, before Svensson's death, there was still a joint concert. Metheny later assured that there would have certainly been a larger collaboration. The Elevation Project lovingly tests the kinship and contrasts of the two great masters.
