In Austria, 376,000 children and adolescents are at risk of poverty and social exclusion – that is one in five children. Emin is one of them. Every shopping trip with his mother is a torment, as they are subjected to the stupid remarks of others at the checkout. Moreover, their shopping cart hasn’t been full for a long time, and there is hardly any healthy vegetables or fruit. So today, once again, it’s just a pack of pasta. But Emin's mother is a lioness: she promises to protect him, and Emin wants to do the same for her. He decides to spend a night in the supermarket and quickly realizes that he is not alone with his problem. Together with Johanna, he confronts society. He realizes how important it is to have a true friend, to listen, and to share. Because together, anything is possible. "The French Fry Paradise" breaks the silence, the ignoring, and the downplaying. The play by award-winning author Akın Emanuel Şipal, created as part of the global movement 10children.org at the Young Schauspiel Düsseldorf, illustrates the connection between poor nutrition and child poverty through a crazy night in the supermarket.
