Sherlock Holmes: The Case of Moriarty - Chamber Plays of the Josefstadt

He is the Napoleon of crime! The King of Bohemia turns to Sherlock Holmes in his greatest hour of need: His secret love affair with the captivating Miss Adler threatens to become a political disaster for him. What initially seems like a simple case soon reveals itself to be a highly explosive power play, as none other than Professor Moriarty – once Holmes' mentor and now his bitter enemy – pulls the strings in the background. But Moriarty is not the only danger: Miss Adler shakes Holmes' strictly logical world, and for the first time, the reserved master detective seems to develop genuine feelings. As Watson grapples with his jealousy and Holmes' dominant brother unexpectedly intervenes, the situation escalates into a deadly game of love, betrayal, and crime.

Ken Ludwig, who has successfully adapted Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express for the stage, now turns to another legendary figure of English crime literature: "My play is primarily about the deep friendship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It forms the core of the myth that Conan Doyle created. The Moriarty case is my attempt to give us all a fresh opportunity to experience the comedic fun and melodramatic pyrotechnics of the Holmes universe."

After his highly successful production of The Great Dictator, Dominic Oley – again with a small, extremely versatile cast – will bring this captivating Sherlock Holmes adventure to the stage of the Kammerspiele.
