Content: 1954 in Cleveland:
The director of the Cleveland Opera is preparing her house for a unique event: the world-class soprano Elena Firenzi is guest-starring with a performance of CARMEN. A thousand tickets have been sold; it is the highlight of the season. However, Elena arrives much too late, feels unwell, and then her husband Pasquale disappears after a passionate jealousy scene. When Elena seemingly dies from an overdose of sleeping pills, the opera director is outraged. What a disgrace! Such a sudden demise will not be accepted!

It falls to her unassuming but vocally talented assistant Jo to save the evening and step into the costume and makeup of the world star, because one thing is clear: CARMEN MUST NOT BURST! But as soon as Jo takes the stage as Carmen, the real diva wakes up and insists on going on stage in her replacement costume... And when Jo's fiancé, a stalking hotel page, and the Scottish heroic tenor are all in pursuit of romantic adventures, the confusion is complete.
