International Sled Dog Race

A touch of Alaska is in the air as the world elite in sled dog sports meets in the snow-secure Sportgastein from February 28 to March 1, 2026. Hundreds of sled dogs create an exciting atmosphere with their howling at the start of the mid-distance and sprint races, providing a lively sound backdrop for this top event. Up to 150 participants from around 20 nations will compete in the races in Gastein! Spectators can experience the action up close and for free right along the course. In the teams' paddock, known as the "Stake-Out," you can watch the mushers as they prepare, take care of the sled dogs, wax the skis, and harness the dogs. Spectator dogs are not allowed in the Stake-Out.

In front of the Valeriehaus, the start and finish area is located, where you can admire spectacular starts and cheer on the athletes as they cross the finish line.

Awards ceremony from around 2:00 PM The start and finish area is located at the cross-country ski trail start in Sportgastein. Important: Dog owners should keep their dogs on a leash and not go directly to the course.
