Longing for the forest

The forest has inspired people since ancient times, and to this day, this fascination remains unbroken. It is a place of longing, a natural space, and a source of countless stories. The exhibition sheds light on the forest and our perceptions of it from all these perspectives: humorous, critical, and inspiring.

From fairy tales to climate change, from hunting scenes to recreational sports – the forest is a place that stimulates our imagination and that of cartoonists. Drawings by Bruno Haberzettl, Manfred Deix, Erich Sokol, IRONIMUS, Sarah Morrissette, Gerhard Glück, Erich Eibl, and many others invite visitors to discover the forest in a very special way. With diverse designs and subtle humor, they poke fun at the relationship between humans and nature. The thematic exhibition showcases selected comics, cartoons, and caricatures that provoke both laughter and reflection.

Forest, Wilderness, and Climate
In ancient times, the forest appeared as a dangerous wilderness. Over time, this image has increasingly shifted to a more positive view. In the era of climate change, the forest takes on an even more significant role. It is a habitat, beneficial for the climate, and threatened by human actions. Against this backdrop, the exhibition addresses various representations of wilderness, danger, and human influence. The forest also comes into play as comic rock star Timo Wuerz engages deeply with nature and species protection.

The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in a humorous yet profound world and to be inspired by the diverse facets of the forest.
