On a turbulent New Year's Eve, the cunning wizard Beelzebub Irrwitzer and his equally devious aunt Tyrannja Vamperl devise a diabolical plan: with a magical wish punch, they aim to commit enough evil deeds in the last hours of the year to settle their debts with the dark forces. However, two unexpected heroes – the cat Maurizio di Mauro and the raven Jakob Krakel – are determined to prevent the disaster.

As Maurizio and Jakob find themselves deeper and deeper in the dangerous web of evil wizards, they must learn to overcome their own limitations: the skeptical, often sarcastic raven and the anxious, duty-bound cat form an unlikely duo that must first learn to work together to defeat evil.
