He stands there once again. As so often. As for all these years. With the engine running, parking lights on, and that very special restlessness that hangs in the air before every departure. You know what’s coming – and yet this time everything is different: With "The Last Bus," Die Fantastischen Vier announce a very special tour. After more than three decades of band history, over a thousand concerts, and countless nights in the tour bus, the quartet is setting off on a grand journey one last time – with everything that comes with it: a big stage, a brand new show, and brilliant musicians.
36 years of hip-hop history: An era comes to an end. This tour is a chapter that encapsulates everything that has been – a look back at over 36 years between nightliners, spotlights, and choruses that have shaped entire generations. It is the story of a band that has written German music history, co-founded an entire genre, and significantly influenced it with their label Four Music, established in the mid-90s, and the associated booking agency Four Artists.
Die Fantastischen Vier are still the same four pioneers today who helped hip-hop break through in Germany. In 1991, they released "Jetzt Geht’s Ab," the first German-language hip-hop album, and the following year, they achieved a historic coup with "Die da!?!?", becoming the first German-speaking rap formation to break into the top ten of the charts and be played endlessly on the radio. Smudo, Thomas D, Michi Beck, and And.Ypsilon demonstrated that German-language rap can be authentic, intelligent, humorous, and mass-compatible. As one of the few bands from Germany, they managed to release albums that reached the top of the charts for over four decades – a testament to their relevance and creativity. With hits like "MFG," "Troy," "Sie ist weg," "Tag am Meer," and "Zusammen," they created the soundtrack for several generations and fill arenas, stadiums, and open-air venues.
At the same time, "The Last Bus" is a departure: Once again across the country. Once again full throttle through the republic. Once again lights, noise, and love. Once again 4 cities in 4 days – mammoth logistics, night shifts on the highway. And this for at least 18 months, to make stops at as many locations as possible that the band has visited before.
For all those who say: "I’ve never seen them live." Or: "The last time was way too long ago." For everyone who wants to know why this has always been more than just music. For all those who are part of this unprecedented story – or want to be. And for everyone who feels: This moment will not come back.
Departure!
