Thursdays4Jazz with Saxofour

Saxofour was founded in 1991 at the Austria Jazz Days in Vöcklabruck and has since played over 350 concerts. The four musicians develop their pieces from original compositions or improvise together based on melodic guidelines. Musically, the ensemble moves between contemporary jazz, Austrian folk music, and ethnic sounds. The quartet has collaborated with international artists such as Portuguese singer Maria João, percussion legend Don Alias, and the Korean group Samul Nori. Tours have taken Saxofour through Europe, Morocco, Canada, the USA, and Korea. The band's thematic albums range from Christmas programs to interpretations of Mozart and newly arranged operetta melodies. The current program "The Rhythm of the World" showcases the musical diversity that Saxofour has developed over three decades. The ensemble returns to its founding place in Vöcklabruck, offering a concert that balances technical precision with playful lightness. The concert is curated by the volunteer jazz group of OKH.
