Princess Pamina has been kidnapped. Her mother, the Queen of the Night, commissions the young prince Tamino to rescue her daughter. However, as Tamino and his likable helper Papageno embark on their adventure, they soon learn that in the search for love, nothing is as it seems.
A magic flute shows them the way on their journey, where they encounter monsters, villains, and mysterious "initiates" – but as it turns out, sometimes help comes when you least expect it. Mozart's fantastic opera shines in David McVicar's enchanting production. The stars include Julia Bullock as Pamina, Amitai Pati as Tamino, Huw Montague Rendall as Papageno, Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, and Soloman Howard as Sarastro. They all shine under the baton of French conductor Marie Jacquot, making her debut at Covent Garden with this opera.
