The Streets will present their landmark album "A Grand Don’t Come For Free" live in its entirety for the first time in 2026. "A Grand Don’t Come For Free" was released in 2004 and remains one of the most important and influential British albums of the 21st century. The album debuted at number one on the UK charts, was certified multi-platinum, and produced iconic singles such as "Dry Your Eyes," "Fit But You Know It," and "Blinded By The Lights." It solidified Skinner's reputation as one of the most original and significant artists in Britain, capturing the humor, heartbreak, and raw emotions of everyday life with rare poetic clarity.
On this tour, the album will be performed in its entirety for the first time, giving fans the opportunity to experience the entire story exactly as it was intended: as a cinematic journey through love, loss, chaos, heartbreak, and hope, presented with Skinner's characteristic raw honesty and sharp wit. "A Grand Don’t Come For Free" was a special moment – for me and for everyone who grew up with it. I wrote it as a story from beginning to end, even studied screenwriting to shape it, and had no idea how people would react. We were looking for something bold for the live show, and here we are: some tracks have never been played live, others haven’t been performed in years. It’s a new challenge to bring the entire journey to life on stage, but I have an incredible band, and we give it our all every night. So I’m sure we’ll be throwing a party every night to find out what happened to the thousand pounds" – Mike Skinner.
The newly announced tour marks the latest chapter in what has already been a very productive year for Skinner: his debut feature film, the DIY noir musical "The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light," was released in full on YouTube. He reinterpreted "And The Beat Goes On" for the John Lewis centenary advertising campaign, and his captivating single "Brave St Andrew" became the title track for the Amazon documentary about Birmingham City. Additionally, he performed at the first night of the Meltdown curated by Little Simz at the Royal Festival Hall earlier this year, receiving enthusiastic acclaim from fans and critics alike. His ongoing YouTube series also provides fans with an unfiltered glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process for each new release, and most recently, "Utopia," a standalone statement single and a bridge to what’s next, was released in September 2025.
We will have the opportunity to experience these unique "A Grand Don’t Come For Free" shows not once, but twice, and outdoors in Austria. On June 17 at the Arena Open Air in Vienna and on June 18 in Linz at the Frischluft Open Air (Posthof Linz).
