Music/Jazz The BEATrio is the latest formation of the 18-time Grammy Award winner Béla Fleck. As a genre-defining boundary-crossing artist between bluegrass, jazz, and folk, the banjo virtuoso has been exploring new musical territories for decades. Together with harpist Edmar Castañeda and drummer Antonio Sánchez, he ignites an innovative sound once again: in 2024, they performed for the first time as a trio at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. Their debut album BEATrio emerged from these improvisations. Castañeda’s intricate harp lines, Sánchez’s precise drumming, and Fleck’s virtuosic banjo playing blend seamlessly together.
