This Christmas is set to be particularly chaotic, yet heartwarming and very funny, all thanks to Gery Seidl. In his first leading role in a film, the comedian and audience favorite plays the construction manager Andi. He’s not exactly relaxed; he’s juggling a “work-work” balance, an impatient boss (Roland Düringer), and even more impatient Chinese clients breathing down his neck. To make matters worse, he has some attention to make up for with his wife Steffi (Marlene Morreis) and bonus daughter Alma (Mia Plamberger). So, he promises to create a very special Christmas idyll. And this time, he means it from the bottom of his heart.
Of course, everything turns out differently than planned. The pressure from work, family expectations, and the surprising fact that gifts are also expected pile up into a crazy mix of overwhelm and good intentions. When his wife and daughter rush off to the Waldviertel to the strict mother-in-law (Maria Hofstätter) because “structure” is needed, things don’t get any easier. Andi has to prove himself. He wants to take charge of the entire Christmas organization, as is fitting, with a big tree and his favorite dessert. And who knows, maybe even a white Christmas. And let’s not forget: with the right decorations! All of this, despite 280 toilet doors being stuck at customs and the ordered tree being lost. Buddy Bertl (Thomas Mraz) promises to lend a helping hand but only brings more chaos.
Director Claudia Jüptner-Jonstorff (GREECE) presents a turbulent yet heartwarming Christmas comedy that unfolds the festival of love in a completely different way. With situational comedy, loving jabs, and plenty of laughs. And with subtle undertones when it comes to family, loss, and togetherness in a frenzied time.
Surrounding Gery Seidl is a fantastic ensemble of beloved stars from the Austrian film and cabaret scene: Thomas Mraz, Thomas Stipsits, Roland Düringer, Maria Hofstätter, Heinz Marecek, Lisa Eckhart, Adele Neuhauser, Johannes Silberschneider, Erika Mottl, Christopher Seiler, Michi Buchinger, Okan Cömert, Stefano Bernardin, Anthony Curtis Kirby, Angelika Niedetzky, and many more.
“AUFPUTZT IS” tells a humorous story about failing to meet one’s own expectations and suggests that Christmas might actually succeed when everything else goes wrong. In between, there’s room for a little sentimentality.
This is the film for everyone who loves, hates, or just wants to survive Christmas.
