MundArt - Dialect Music & Dance Café, an evening dedicated to Austrian dialect music (often insufficiently referred to as "Austro-Pop"), is entering its eleventh round! As part of this event series, bands and artists from this genre, whether brand new or established, regularly perform. We are looking forward to the 12th edition, featuring four fantastic bands! Joining us are METTERNICH, PFLICHTTERMIN, DAS SCHWARZE HERZ VON ÖSTERREICH, and TRAXLER & DIE FESCHN HAWARA. Check it out!!
METTERNICH - the challenges of everyday life in Vienna have taken on new, unforeseen dimensions. Besides terrifying dental appointments and the chaos of digital dating, one must build a second, albeit illegal, professional leg to stand on in uncertain times. Soon enough, one might find themselves wishing for a vacation like in the old days. However, princely strizzi rock is no pony riding school... METTERNICH has a mission: the endangered rock music in Austria must be preserved from extinction. Armed with rocking riffs, catchy choruses, and the obligatory dose of Viennese charm, the four strizzis are fighting for a good cause. Of course, a pinch of melancholy and a bit of grumbling are also a must.
The band was founded in November 2016 by Alexander Karlin, Wolfgang Posch, Bernhard Sattra, and David Zenz. In February 2017, METTERNICH introduced themselves for the first time with the music video "Da Winta." After more videos were released on YouTube, METTERNICH played their first concerts in Vienna, followed by performances at Hafen Open Air and the Danube Island Festival.
In 2020, the band released their debut album "G’schichtldrucker" and in 2022 the follow-up "Oidakalyptus Now" with Tempel Records/Preiser Records.
PFLICHTTERMIN has packed the intoxication of emotions into their current studio album "Lampenfieber" and invites you to dive into their world with twelve energetic tracks. "Lampenfieber"? That’s that electrifying tingle in your body, that one deep breath before getting started, that intense ticking in your ear before the tension reaches its peak, the curtain opens, and the show ignites like fireworks. You must; no, you have to dance when captivating rhythms mix with rich guitar sounds and the unmistakable voice of frontwoman and powerhouse Planetenheidi makes its way into your ears. What began with a tingle becomes ecstasy with stage fright!
PFLICHTTERMIN has been playing in their own world for years: at performances at all major festivals from Nova Rock to Frequency to Attersee Open Air, as well as countless gigs in Germany and Austria, PFLICHTTERMIN demonstrates sheer strength on stage, encourages dancing, and leaves no further questions unanswered!!
DAS SCHWARZE HERZ VON ÖSTERREICH (DSHVÖ) was founded in 2013 by David STAWA. It all started with composing the first songs and experimenting with lyrics in Austrian dialect... David was the singer, guitarist, and composer of the shock-rock band FIRESTORM, which successfully toured Austria and neighboring countries in the 2000s and released four recordings. He is also currently active as a singer and co-songwriter for the heavy metal project THE INNER ME. With the birth of his children, the frontman became somewhat quiet until - as mentioned above - the idea was born in 2013 to create music with local lyrics.
It took some time until 2021 when a complete album with demo recordings titled FEURIGEN MUSIK was created. Encouraged by consistently good to excellent feedback, David felt motivated to compose songs for a follow-up work. It was to be more compact and catchy... with a focus on catchy melodies, earworm choruses, and a profound lyrical structure. In 2023, it was finally time: the successor SCHALL UND RAUCH was released, picking up where FEURIGEN MUSIK left off... In 2023, the ranks around the frontman were also strengthened: Daniel TALLAMASSL (David’s brother and long-time companion in FIRESTORM and THE INNER ME) on bass and vocals, and Jürgen SCHÄFER (drum teacher, former ANGIZIA collaborator, and musical multitasker) found the perfect addition for what has now grown into a proper band project. In 2024, the lineup was finally enriched with Beate STAWA (also a long-time companion in FIRESTORM) on guitar and Bianca KOSCH (a collaborator in countless bands and projects such as ASHANTEE FOUNDATION, SPOLU, etc.) on piano/keyboard and vocals, bringing a solid dose of female power.
Musically, DSHVÖ covers the realm of rock music in all its facets without being too stylistically pinned down: sometimes aggressive, angry, and powerful... sometimes sensitive, touching, and contemplative... yet always stirring and penetrating, with a fine sense for composition... hard to categorize, captivating, emotional... unique... Music with and for heart, belly, and brain!"... because that’s the only thing you can do - the only thing you want..." (Song lyrics 'Herz von Österreich')
TRAXLER & DIE FESCHN HAWARA - Honest Austropop with Viennese charm, heart & character - music with soul and a large portion of Viennese lifestyle. Five musicians who tell stories with wit, feeling, and experience, as only life itself can write - sometimes wistful, sometimes charming with a wink, but always genuine.
At the center is Georg Traxler - namesake, songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, and second voice. His songs carry the unmistakable Viennese dialect and the hallmark of authentic storytelling: down-to-earth, humorous, and with a touch of nostalgia. By his side: Paul Venturini, singer and lyricist, whose voice gives the songs emotional depth and unmistakable personality. Along with Andi Wingert - bassist, producer, keyboardist, and songwriter, and drummer Robert "Bertl" Baumgartner (who was also the drummer for EAV from 1998 to 2014).
Their original compositions "Mei’ Wien" and "Summatog" show how deeply Traxler & die feschn Hawara are rooted in their hometown and in the Viennese dialect - with music that touches the heart and simultaneously brings a smile to your lips.
