This afternoon, composers allow us to experience different musical rhetorics: Bononcini brings forth melodies filled with a longing for glory. Telemann surprises and plays with waiting, turning hesitation into joy. Handel stretches curiosity to the breaking point and gifts us with overwhelming fulfillment. And Vincent finally leads us into the quiet afterglow – into the moment when expectation transforms into memory. Thus, music itself becomes a drama: Waiting means listening. Expecting means hoping. Listening means arriving. The ensemble nuovo barocco, led by the virtuosic violinist Dimitris Karakantas and the versatile artist Bettina Simon, promises to help us hear the works of this afternoon concert anew.
