After the overwhelming success in the summer of the festival week 2025, this program returns due to enormous demand: Audience favorite Fritz Karl, born in 1965 at Lake Traunsee and already one of the most sought-after actors in the German-speaking world, shares the stage for the first time with his son Aaron Karl in this program. In an intense and touching manner, they give voice to the famous correspondence between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold. The letters tell of a relationship filled with closeness, pride, and affection, but also of strict expectations, dependency, and painful conflicts. The dominant father fears his son's lifestyle, drastically warns him of a fate on the "straw sack," and reacts with growing distance to his marriage with Constanze Weber. This creates a picture of love and friction, of familial bonds and artistic self-assertion that still resonates today.

Yet this evening is not only profound but also wonderfully entertaining: With a fine sense of humor, father and son Karl bring the texts to life in surprisingly witty scenes – a lively performance full of charm, wordplay, and a wink of lightness.

The musical framework is provided by the String Quartet Sonare, which interprets works by Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as well as Joseph Haydn with exquisite sound culture. The program includes Mozart's Quartet in B major KV 458, the sparkling Alla Turca, arias from The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, and The Marriage of Figaro, the famous Eine kleine Nachtmusik, as well as Haydn's cheerful Quartet in C major.

An evening that uniquely connects word and music, seriousness and lightness, father and son – moving, highly musical, and full of unexpected ease.
