Guided hike: From Frohnleiten over the Haneggkogel

On this hike, we will explore the first part of the second stage of the new Graz Mountain Long-Distance Hiking Trail starting from Frohnleiten.

The trail initially leads us along the Mur River to the picturesque district of Adriach and then further up to the well-known summit cross of the scenic Hanneggkogel (1091 m). After a short break at the summit, we will continue to the alpine guesthouse Poldlwirt, where we will enjoy a meal together and conclude the tour. Afterwards, the Flux taxi will comfortably take us back to the Frohnleiten train station. Meeting point: 08:30 AM, Frohnleiten train station. Trail length: 9.5 km | Ascent: 670 m | Walking time: approximately 4:30 hours. A stop at GH Poldlwirt at the end of the hike is planned until around 3:45 PM, followed by a shared return transfer with a shuttle taxi to the Frohnleiten train station (included).

Travel by public transport: take the S-Bahn S1 from Graz to Frohnleiten, return transfer to Frohnleiten train station (included), return trip from Frohnleiten is individual. Difficulty level: Mountain hike without special requirements, some steep ascents and descents, stamina for about 4.5 hours and 700 meters of ascent required. Equipment: Good hiking/mountain shoes suitable for winter, crampons for ice, hiking poles recommended, warm hiking/sports clothing (layering principle), backpack, gloves & hat, wind and rain protection, drink, snack, no stops during the hike.

Cost: €15.00 per person, payable on-site to the guide. Service: Guided hike with certified mountain hiking guides, return transfer to Frohnleiten train station. Registration: by Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at www.regiongraz.at/wandertouren. The guided hike is organized by the Graz Region Tourism Association in collaboration with hiking guides. Please note that last-minute changes may occur. Participation is at your own risk.
