A Schubertiade

It was evident that the Viennese song duo Die Strottern and the music band Franui would eventually dedicate a joint celebration to Franz, during their performance together on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen, where both ensembles shared the stage at a winter festival. "This is how it must have sounded when Schubert sang the Winterreise to his friends," said the Franuis as the Strottern's song came to an end. "This is how it must have sounded when Schubert accompanied his friends in winter while they danced," said the Strottern as the Franuis concluded with the final chord. The plan to create a new Schubertiade was quickly formed. Songs, choirs, dances - the whole program.

"Franzensfeste" is - in addition to the reference to the town of Franz located not far from Innervillgraten in the Pustertal - a special celebration for Franz, as true musicians refer to their Schubert. "Franui is probably closest to the music of Franz Schubert. Behind the fresh and rough spontaneity of their interpretations lies meticulous attention to detail and sometimes a brilliant idea: for example, playing a waltz so slowly that time seems to turn in on itself. Or stands completely still. When Klemens Lendl and David Müller perform Viennese songs, the same often happens. With an incomparable tone and timbre, they suspend time." (Albert Hosp)
