He consistently manages to capture the joy and waltz bliss, as well as the melancholy and heaviness of Viennese music. He possesses an incredible feel for this music and delights the audience with pieces such as "So lang’s in Wien noch Maderln gibt" by Edmund Eysler, "Ja, das ist der Frühling im Wienerwald," or "Wiener Gemütlichkeit," both by Leo Ascher, among others. Alongside him are the congenial Philharmonia Schrammeln Vienna, who delight the audience at the Theater im Park year after year - they contribute with their unique instrumentation, the picksüßes Hölzl and the button accordion, to the distinctive and typical Schrammel sound.
ARTIST Herbert Lippert: The Singer Herbert Lippert, born in Linz, began his musical career as a soloist with the Vienna Boys' Choir. Over the course of his career, he developed into one of the leading Mozart tenors in the world and became internationally known for his expressive singing style and warm-toned voice. For over 35 years, he was a member of the ensemble at the Vienna State Opera, where he interpreted all the major tenor roles of the classical repertoire. In addition, he has performed at significant opera houses such as La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and at the Salzburg Festival. His extensive discography includes over 300 recordings, many of which have won awards, including a Grammy Award. He has worked with the most renowned conductors of our time, including Sir Georg Solti, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Riccardo Muti, Franz Welser-Möst, Christian Thielemann, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Particularly noteworthy is his decades-long close collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic, with whom he has numerous significant projects.
Herbert Lippert: The Painter As a visual artist, Herbert Lippert has also made a remarkable name for himself. His painting combines post-figural Impressionism with a harmonious connection of abstraction and representation. His works are characterized by a distinctive visual language in which colors and forms resonate with impressive energy and depth. His art has been presented in significant exhibitions - including at the Vienna State Opera - as well as at extraordinary and innovative venues. The recognition of his work is continuously growing, even among leading museums and institutions in Austria. The dialogue between music and painting is at the center of his artistic creation. Inspired by the idea of making images audible and music visible, Lippert developed a new approach: each composition consists of two independent images - an abstract and a post-figural work. These two pieces enter into a visual dialogue and open up different dimensions of a musical composition in the image. Herbert Lippert is considered one of the most exciting painters of the present and one of the great dual talents of the 20th century - Prof. Dr. Klaus Albrecht Schröder, Albertina Vienna.
Philharmonia Schrammeln Vienna They emerged more than half a century ago from the Spilar-Schrammeln. Alfons Egger founded the ensemble at that time, played first violin until 1999, and created a large number of arrangements that still form an integral part of the repertoire today. This includes not only marches and various polkas but also the so-called "Weana Tanz." Additionally, the Philharmonia Schrammeln Vienna also enjoys performing arrangements of "classical" works, such as those by Schubert, Wagner, and R. Strauss. In the 1980s and 1990s, the ensemble had a cycle at the Vienna Concert Hall, and since 1999 this has taken place in the Brahms Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. Over the decades, numerous recordings have been produced, such as the complete recording of the "Kremser Alben" together with Heinz Zednik, Walter Berry, and Angelika Kirchschlager, and the CD "Wiener Künstler" released in 2017. Most recently, the double CD "G’mischter Satz" was created in 2021 with Günther Groissböck, Karl-Michael Ebner, and Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz. An important part of their activities also includes collaboration with renowned singers in the classical world, with a particularly long and fruitful partnership connecting the Philharmonia Schrammeln with tenor Herbert Lippert, who is especially dedicated to the preservation of Viennese songs from operettas. Through careful personnel changes over time, the ensemble has continually rejuvenated itself while maintaining its playing style and programmatic orientation. The current lineup has remained unchanged since 2019 and is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of Viennese folk music. The very simple, unpretentious dances, often stemming from folk traditions or by unknown composers (outside of Vienna), are particularly dear to the Philharmonia Schrammeln Vienna. But of course, they also cherish the works of the Schrammel brothers, J. Lanner, and the Strauss dynasty.
