"Franz – Schubert and Folk Music" Rafael Fingerlos and Sascha El Mouissi, one of the most exciting song duos of their generation, the Upper Austrian, cosmopolitan folk music ensemble Tschejefem, and the Austrian actor Michael Dangl embark on an exciting musical quest. Which Schubert song is so well-known that it might even be perceived as a folk song today? Is it possible to create art songs from folk songs? Can Schubert songs be combined with traditional, but also visionary folk music to create something new? How about a Schubert polka, for example? Is there a distinction between popular and serious music, or are we finally overcoming these outdated terms and building musical bridges across genre divides? The artists of this very special evening are convinced – Yes, all of this is possible, permissible, and necessary! It is up to the performers to dispel prejudices and advocate for what was also so important to Franz Schubert: to find, promote, and bring forth the connecting and touching aspects of art, and to take the music where it belongs.
