The wind ensemble work from the pen of the Salzburg genius/master represents something unprecedented; it is an expression and processing of profound feelings and sensations, in a perfection that has never been seen before. All of this must have been overwhelming for Mozart's musical contemporaries; the shadow of genius was ever-present. For Antonio Salieri, Mozart's contemporary in Salzburg, it was no different.
